Frequently Asked Questions:

1.         How big are they?

 A.         Each turbines is over 400 feet high.  Almost 100 feet taller than those at Burton Latimer

 2.         Will they interfere with T.V. reception?

 A.         In the short term the wind farm can have an impact on T.V. reception, but in the longer term the change to digital will result in no interference.

 3.         Will we get free or cheaper electricity?

 A.         No. Overall electricity prices will rise to pay for the costs of installing and running the turbines. This includes the ground rental for land owners who have turbines on their land.

 4.         Will we see them from where we live?

 A.         Almost certainly if you live in Ringstead,  probably if you live in Raunds and possibly if you live in one of the surrounding villages. Imagine the London Eye on the hill between Ringstead and Raunds, the turbines will be is almost as tall.

 5.         Will the value of my house fall?

 A.         Yes.  Ask yourself this ‘would I choose to live next to a wind farm?’ There is increasing evidence of house prices changing close to wind turbines and some cases of reduction in Council Tax in recognition of this effect.

 6.         How near will they be to us?

 A.         We don't know for certain until the planning application is submitted but on the current proposal the nearest houses to the nearest turbine will be only just over 600 meters.

 7.         Will I hear them?

 A.         You may hear them at times and the noise might increase as the turbines age.  People living near wind turbines complain of the sensation of noise due to rhythmic changing air pressure. 

 8.         What is the shadow/flicker effect?

 A.         Imagine a strobe like effect caused by the sun appearing and disappearing through the rotating blades.
